Essence Superheroes LE - 06 The Awesome

Nothing like a nice glitter polish to make any nail polish lover's day seem brighter. When I first saw this polish in the preview posts of several bloggers, I decided that I need to have that in my collection. I had no idea how it would look on my nails, but the preview press sample pictures looked promising.

The Superheroes trend edition from Essence is long gone, and replaced by others quite a few times by now. But every now and then I see a post about one of the polishes from the collection (which I had a hard time finding, by the way. It was always sold out! In several cities!)

Here's the one I have tried on today: 06 The Awesome

My first reaction to it was excitement. A pink nail polish that contains glitters, which meant only two or three layers plus top coat and I'm done. That definitely beats a 2-3 layers of nail polish plus one or two layer of glitter polish and a layer of top coat.

I have never tried a jelly-based nail polish prior to this one, so I had no idea what to expect application-wise, and there's so much you can experience from reading about it on the web.

One layer of polish

The application was tricky. It felt gooey even though it was a brand new polish. I read somewhere that jelly-based polishes tend to feel that way, so I just shrugged it off and continued painting my nails.

Two layers of polish, no top coat

At two layers things were looking better. I decided to skip a third layer because that would just feel too thick for me. But now I think I should have gone for it.

I added a top coat in the end. And that just made the whole thing look so much better! Yes, the polish is a bit on the sheer side, but I probably would've gotten a more opaque result with a third layer, which I decided to skip. But all-in-all I really like this polish. It gives me a feel of fancy, elegant, and playful at the same time.

Have you tried this polish from the Essence Superheroes trend edition? What's your opinion about it?

Until next time!
